Mike Hartle - LEAD Pastor
Mike's heart for the Church, and the service for which he's been called, can be best summed up in Ephesians 4:11-16 and 1 Peter 5:1-4. "It's a privilege to care for God's people and a great joy to see the body of Christ growing in their faith while serving one another in unity!"
Mike and Sheila have been married for over 25 incredible years and enjoy growing their family business together while also exploring the beautiful state of Colorado with their two active sons, Gabe and Jonas. Hiking, skiing, fishing, and a variety of sports are some of the ways they enjoy spending their time.
Loren Kurtz - Worship & outreach/missions leader
Loren grew up on a dairy farm in Pennsylvania and went to inner-city Chicago to study urban ministries at Moody Bible Institute, where he met his wife, Sarah. After serving in a bilingual church in Chicago, they moved to Mexico City, where they worked with church planting and helped start a home for human trafficking victims. He has a passion for worship as well as missions and outreach. He loves being part of Black Forest Chapel and being able to serve in these areas. His hobbies include hunting, camping and exploring the beautiful state of Colorado with his wife and four kids.
sarah kurtz - worship & Women’s ministry leader
Sarah and her husband, Loren, were married outside of Chicago in 2006. Together they lived in Chicago, Mexico City, and Pennsylvania before moving to Colorado in 2014. And they had a child born in each of those four places that they have lived! They have been a part of Black Forest Chapel since 2022 and have loved being part of this family of believers. Sarah is grateful for the opportunity to serve in two areas that she is passionate about: worship and women’s ministry. When she isn’t working or homeschooling her kids, she can be found working in her garden, spending time in the great outdoors, and enjoying time with her family.
Katrina McAllister - Ministry Assistant
Katrina and her husband Chad have been attending BFC since 2016, along with their two children who have now grown and flown. She loves serving the people of BFC by providing administrative assistance and church communication, and by supporting the needs of all of our ministries however she can. As a retired homeschooling mom and former RN, she is grateful and blessed to balance a variety of tasks at such a wonderfully caring, Bible-based church. In addition to Jesus, she loves time with family, playing piano, hiking, and dark chocolate.
